In this  Blog Post, we will discuss the Bollywood movies Shot in Chandigarh or Tri City. Chandigarh is quite a happening place, known for its beauty and cleanliness, which is why Bollywood also has a deep connection with the spot. I will also cover the movies in a portion or some scenes shot in the region of Chandigarh or in the Tri-City.  

 1 Apne – The 2007 movie brought the whole Deol family to the big screen for the first time. The action had a tone of Punjab and North India. Because of which the movie had a Punjabi tone. This movie was shot at locations like Sukana Lake, Fun Republic (Known as FR), etc. This movie was directed by Anil Sharma, known for movies like Gadar and Gadar 2

 

2 Tanu Weds Manu Returns – The Rom Com movie also had a connection with the Try City region, where some of the movie scenes were shot in Sector 16 and many other different locations of Chandigarh, especially in the second half. It will not be wrong to call Tanu Weds Manu Returns an out-and-out North Indian movie

3 Good News – Another Bollywood carried the flavour of Punjab and North India. As some of the scenes were shot at the Ozi Gym in Mohali.  Otherwise, the movie was entirely shot in Mumbai, and along with the movie also had a huge International schedule in California

 

4  Soorma -   Based on the life of Indian Hockey Player Sandeep Singh. All the Hockey Matches were shot at the Chandigarh Hockey Stadium, located in Sector 42 has a seating capacity of more than 30.000 people. Along with Chandigarh, the movie was also shot in Shahbad, but some part of the movie was shot in the Netherlands   

 

5 Dev D – A Modern adaptation of Devdas, having Abhay Deol and Mahi Gill in the lead roles. An entirely Mumbai-based movie whose some scenes were shot in the Mustards field of Chandigarh and Punjab  

 

6 Junooniyat – The Rom Com movie starring Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat, was also shot at some of the beautiful locations of Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh. Along with these, the title track of the movie was shot in Leh.

 

7 Besharam – A Ranbir Kapoor movie revolves around a Car thief Babli (Ranbir Kapoor), There are some of the movie shot in Chandigarh  like the whole action sequence of climax  was shot in a Car Showroom in Industrial Area Chandigarh,

 

8 Shershah – Based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, starring Siddharth Malhotra in the lead role, the movie was shot in different parts of India, including the Rock Garden in Chandigarh

9 Happy Bhaag Jayegi – The Rom-Com movie released in 2016 was shot in different parts of North India, like Chandigarh and Amritsar, along with Mumbai. The movie had Diana Penty, Abhay Deol, and Ali Fazal in the lead roles.  

 

10 Laal Singh Chadha- The movie was shot across North India, along with places like Amritsar, Ladakh, and Delhi, including famous locations of Rajasthan, Ladakh, Kinnaur, and several different locations of North India.

 

11 Karm- The 1977 movie, starring Rajesh Khanna and Shabana Azmi in the lead roles. The movie was at Punjab University, in regarded as a popular  University in the City.

 12 Attack – John Abraham also shot a major portion of his movie Attack in the City Beautiful. The actor shot a big action sequence for the movie at the back of Sukana Lake.
