Whenever we talk about Indian spy movies, we talk about War, Pathan, and Tiger series, but many such spy movies did not get the recognition they deserved. So, these are the 7  Underrated Spy Movies of Bollywood on OTT

 

1 Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW)  – Having John Abraham in the lead, the movie showcases a story of the Chief of the RAW, who recruits Rehamatullah Ali, a banker, to test his espionage skills in Pakistan. He becomes Akbar Malik, helping the RAW in their operations. Akbar informs Isaq Afridi about a planned attack on Badlipur, which would claim innocent lives in India and East Pakistan. Colonel Khan suspects Akbar, but he escapes and kills Mudassar, revealing his loyalty to Pakistan. The Indo-Pakistani War breaks out, and Akbar, now a Pakistani officer named Walter Khan, meets Shrikant and Awasthi in Nepal.

2 Madras Café – Another John Abraham Movie,  Madras Café was an Action Political Thriller. The film follows Vikram Singh (John Abraham), a man from Kasauli, who witnesses the death of the Sri Lankan President Sri Lankan. Five years ago, the battle between Sri Lankan military forces and Tamil militant groups escalated, leading to the Indian Prime Minister withdrawing from the island. Vikram travels to Sri Lanka to find ways to stop the rebels, and his associate, Balakrishnan, is kidnapped by the LTF. Vikram and Indian forces attack the LTF base camp, resulting in a devastating gun battle. Balakrishnan commits suicide, and Vikram submits his report to the investigation committee.

3 Phantom –The film follows Captain Daniyal Khan (Saif Ali Khan), an ex-soldier who is pressed into service by the Indian RAW chief Roy to wreak vengeance on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. He is captured by the L-e-T and forced to reveal his plan to the ISI. Daniyal and Nawaz travel to Syria to take down the last two perpetrators, Sahabuddin Umvi and Haaris Saeed. They plan to kill them, but their plans fail, leading to Daniyal's death. They escape through the Arabian Sea, but their accomplices are caught and killed. Daniyal is shot by the Pakistani military and dies while hiding. Nawaz is rescued by the Indian Navy and meets a tea seller who offers her two cups of tea, fulfilling a promise made to Daniyal.

4 Raazi- Directed by talented Meghna Gulzar, the story is set in 1971, where a young Kashmiri girl gets married into a Pakistani military family. Although the movie grossed over 100 crores, before the Bangladeshi War of Independence, Indian intelligence agent Hidayat Khan arranged for his daughter Sehmat to become an undercover agent for Pakistan's RAW. Sehmat, trained by Khalid Mir and Nikhil Bakshi, relayed information on an offensive against India. Brigadier Syed, promoted to Major General, was exposed to ISI. Sehmat's secret is revealed, and she returns to her hometown, pregnant. The movie ends with Sehmat living under security alone. Raazi is a perfect example of an Underrated Spy Movie of Bollywood

5 Ghazi Attack -  Another Criminally Underrated spy movie showcases a different aspect of 1971, An Underwater  War fought by the Indian Navy  to destroy the Pakistani Ship “Ghazi.”  The movie has a fresh and unknown aspect of the 1971 War. Ghazi Attack was a very well-made movie, but still, even a large section of the audience was not aware of the movie. But this movie deserves more than what it got. Before the Bangladeshi War of Independence, an Indian intelligence agent. And the Underwater scenes were a visual treat to watch. The way this touches the technical aspects of the Indian Navy makes Ghazi Attack one of the most unique Indian War movies

6 D Day -  This movie was released in 2013 and featured Rishi Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, and Irrfan Khan in the lead roles. A team is formed to catch the biggest criminal in the country, and what happens during this operation. Daud Ibrahim is one of the most underrated movies made in Bollywood. Even after 12 years, a large section of the audience is not even aware of this movie. After Agneepath, this was Rishi Kapoor's second movie in which Rishi Kapoor played a negative role.

7 Kahaani - If we are talking about underrated spy movies of Bollywood and not talking about this movie, then it will be a bit unfair. As soon as the movie starts, Vidya Balan is searching for her husband. But the suspense of the climax will leave you stunned. Although the movie was made in 2012, its suspense was such that no one could even imagine. However, it is difficult to say how much today's audience will like this movie, but think about it, a movie made in 8 crores earned 104 crores. Directed by the master director of suspense movies, Sujoy Ghosh, he also directed a sequel to the movie Kahaani 2.
