Plot Overview
Test is a sports drama film that follows two tracks: one is
that of cricketer Arjun (Siddharth), who is preparing to play his last test,
and the other is a couple, Sarvananda (R. Madhavan) and Kumuda (Nayanthara),
who are facing numerous problems in their lives. The interesting twist in the
story is when Sarvananda kidnaps Arjun's child and, in return, tells him to
play badly so that India loses. Now, whether this happens or not, you will have
to watch the film to know this.
Review
We saw a movie with a similar topic called Dishoom. That
movie was a high-octane action movie, but this one is a slow-paced drama. However,
the portrayal of match-fixing in this movie was not particularly effective. The
thrilling moments come and go, so the connection that should have been made is
not established.

Direction
The director's idea was good, but he could not bring it to
the screen. For example, the way the child is kidnapped and the atmosphere that
should be created are not created. For example, Kidnapping was not as much fun
as it should have been. The end is that Arjun will get his child, the porn in
between was not that good. Here, I would like to name a movie, Kidnap. Kidnap
was a revenge drama movie, and this is a sports drama movie.
The story is the same as that of Dishoom, so those who have
seen Dishoom know what was in that film, but the way the whole situation was
filmed was on a very large scale. Now, since this film has come on OTT, the
production value is good, according to that. Along with this, there is a lack of editing of the film; this story can be easily finished in 2 hours.
In this story, the ups and downs in cricket and the life of
a cricketer are shown in a very indirect way in this film, but that angle is
also decent. And those who like to watch very fast-paced films will have a
little issue because you cannot keep such a story slow
Technical Aspects.
Technically, the film is also good: the locations,
cinematography, and art design were good. On the contrary, I cannot say the
same about editing, but the story that was shown in 2 short 24 episodes could
have been shown in 2 hours.
Actor's Performance
Talking about acting, the best part of the film is R
Madhavan who has done a great job, he has played the role of a useless husband
very beautifully. After a long time he has been seen in such a role and his
work is good, Hindi-speaking people know Nayanthara from Jawaan, her work is
good, Siddharth who became famous from Rang De Basanti has done a good job in
his place. The work of the other people is also fine.
Conclusion
Ultimately, Test is an okay film that can be watched once
without much expectations. The story is quite simple and predictable, but
somewhere, R Madhavan, Nayanthara, and Siddhant lifted the movie with their
acting.
