Review
The movie presents an intense family drama with a simple and
relatable blend of emotions that simultaneously makes one smile and cry. Showcasing
the sacrifices a man made for his family creates an atmosphere of emotions.
The biggest positive of the movie is its story that connects from the first
scene. Brahmaji's family seems like our own to us. A man who sacrifices for his
family will make us cry and smile, except that there are other subplots in the story,
and there is a small twist in the climax that might shock.
The movie follows a simple story despite managing to engage despite
what the climax is going to be, but still engages till the climax. The entire movie
showcases the journey of a family. Despite this, the screenplay also tries to highlight
a serious issue of farmers' suicide in the country.
Acting Performance
In the Acting department. The movie is led by Brahmaji, and his performance is enough to showcase his versatility as an actor. Shines in the role of a compelling father in the same way a father goes to any extent for his family, along with Dhanya Balakrishan as Brahmaji’s wife, lends magnificent support to the movie. The actress who plays Bhamahaji’s daughter also shines in her role, but it is Brahmaji who carries the movie on his shoulders. How a father does everything for his family and children is showcased impressively.
Direction
The direction by Dayakar Reddy is decent, intending to make a family drama and got a decent success in making an interesting and the way he blended the serious issue of farmer’s suicide adds an element of realism in the movie with some subplots streaghthen the emotional core of the movie keeps viewers hooked while watching the movie.
Apart from the director, the writers also did a tremendous job in writing a simple yet emotional story. This took the movie a notch up.
Technical Aspects
Conclusion
To summarize, Baapu is a decent movie with an impactful performance by Brahmaji, who carried the movie on his shoulder, and an emotional storyline is one of the main pillars. On the other hand, the movie is slow-paced, which, combined with the fact that many look at a movie because of how it is shown, and that the movie becomes predictable at a certain point. If I have to spot negatives, I did not find any major negative points. Those who want to enjoy a simple family with a high dosage of emotions and who enjoy grown-up movies, Baghban and Avatar, will definitely enjoy Baapu.
