Plot Overview
Daaku Maharaj is an action drama that showcases the story of a dedicated and hardworking Civil Engineer, Krishnamurthy ( Nandmuri Balakrishnan), living a peaceful life with his granddaughter until a local mafia, Balawant Singh Thakur, wants to acquire the farmer's land, and Krishnamurthy fights for the villagers and gets their land back.
Review
The movie follows two different tracks. The first half follows the simple story of Krishnamurthy and his granddaughter, whereas the second half showcases the story of Krishnamurthy's past. He is taking care of Bhawani Singh is showcased as a dedicated Civil Engineer who fights for villagers' rights. If the movie is judged on the parameters of the story, it looks ordinary. Those who have seen Bollywood and South movies of the 90s may find the story repetitive, but still, the movie manages to engage viewers. As the story screenplay is so predictable, it is Nandmurli Balakrishnan who took a level up.
Direction and Other Aspects
At the same time, the movie takes its own time to develop. The first half looks like a cute story of a granddaughter and her grandfather. Both love each other so much, but vice versa. The second half is where the story of Krishanmuty's past is showcased, and the way all this merged into a screenplay is moderately engaging. The director was entirely focused on NBK. Uncountably, He truly justifies the term "Superstar". The director had a clear mindset to focus only on NBK and did exactly the same. In the movie, NBK has two looks, one of a Civil Engineer, Krishanmurty, and the other of Dacait, and the effortless portrayal of both characters shows his versatility as an actor.
Actors Performances
Apart from NBK, the movie also has Urvashi Rautela, and she was decent in her role. But it is NBK all the way. Like Animal and Kanguva, we also see Bobby Deol in a negative role, and his role is quite like an extended cameo, but at the same time, his character appears too late in the movie and looks like a typical villain of a South Indian movie. The child artist who played the role of Nandmulri's granddaughter looks cute, and her scenes with her grandfather provide a much-needed emotional core to the movie. The coming drawbacks of the movie. A movie like this has a land mafia that looks very predictable, especially for those who consume too much 90s Bollywood and South movies.
Other than that action in the Climax scene is good but I like the story action but misses that "Wow" factor in it.
Conclusion
In Conclusion, Daaku Maharaj is an average movie with a storyline that may appeal to South viewers. The presence of NBK is the biggest USP of the movie, but at the same time, I'm not sure if Hindi viewers will be able to digest
